Course description
The course Bachelor of Education is a double degree programme with the aim to prepare teachers of the English language as well as educators in one of the selected content areas (science or arts).
The purpose of the program
- Students will be able to know, understand, and use the major theories and research related to the structure and acquisition of language to help English language and content learners to develop language and literacy.
- Students will be able to know, understand, and use major concepts, principles, theories, and research related to the nature and role of culture and cultural groups to construct supportive learning environments for English language and content learners. They will demonstrate understanding of how cultural groups and individual cultural identities affect language learning and school achievement.
- Students will be able to know, understand, and use evidence based practices and strategies related to planning, implementing, and managing standards based ESL and content instruction. Students will be knowledgeable about program models and skilled in teaching strategies for developing and integrating language skills. They will integrate technology as well as choose and adapt classroom resources appropriate for their learners.
Result
The programme helps students to become autonomous, critical and creative. Various tasks given to students focus on critical and creative thinking. Graduates of Bachelor of Education programme are expected to be highly trained specialists in the field of teaching. As future teachers, students will have all knowledge and skills required from a modern educator.
Curriculum
The Bachelor of Education programme comprises 148 credits, with 20 credits per semester. The study includes practical and theoretical aspects of English language teaching methodology and one of the content areas selected by students.
Year 1: freshmen will have classes in English language (English Listening& Speaking; Academic Reading; Introduction to Academic Writing; Vocabulary); Ancient History and Literature; IT classes and others.
Year 2: sophomores will have methodology classes (Digital Classroom; Modern Teaching Methods;) as well as English Literature; Medieval History; Mathematical Techniques and others.
Year 3: the major focus for students in this junior year will be on methodology (Research Methods; Classroom Management; Materials Design); in addition, they will cover topics in English literature; History of Art and Religion; the Nature of Mathematics and Applications of Mathematics.
Year 4: seniors will have classes in Syllabus Design; Testing and Assessment; Modern Literature; Thermodynamics and Solid State. In addition to this, students are to have an internship each academic year.
