First and foremost, allow me to extend a warm welcome to all of you on behalf of the Samarkand Branch of Kimyo International University in Tashkent (KIUT).
Today, major reforms are being implemented in Uzbekistan’s higher education system at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev. A clear example of these efforts is Presidential Decree No. PF-5847, dated 8 October 2019, entitled “On Approval of the Concept for the Development of the Higher Education System of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030.”
The President places particular emphasis on developing public-private partnerships in higher education, establishing and strengthening public and private higher education institutions across the regions, increasing access to higher education to more than 50 percent, and fostering a healthy competitive environment.
As a result of the reforms aimed at developing the private higher education sector, a number of non-governmental higher education institutions are now operating successfully across our country, including our university — Kimyo International University in Tashkent.
During its first four years, the university operated under the brand name “Yeodju Technical Institute in Tashkent.” Within a relatively short period, the number of academic programmes reached 28. The institute obtained the ISO 9001:2015 international quality management system certification and achieved international accreditation for nine academic programmes.
Our network of international partner universities has continued to expand. In the early years, Yeodju Technical Institute of the Republic of Korea was our principal partner. Today, we maintain partnerships with more than 50 universities in different countries. These include Hanyang University, Gachon University and Hankyong National University. We have also established close academic ties with Chosun University, Jeonju University and Daegu University in the Republic of Korea; Roosevelt University in the United States; the European Institute of Design in Pescara, Italy; NILE and the University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom; Riga Technical University, Turiba University and the Baltic International Academy in Latvia; Berlin University of Technology and the University of Applied Sciences in Germany; and Yildiz Technical University and Istanbul Aydin University in Türkiye, along with many other institutions.
Taking into account recommendations from our partner universities and experts from international accreditation commissions, a decision was made to undertake a rebranding process with the aim of elevating the institute’s status to that of an international university.
Since October 2022, our higher education institution has been known as Kimyo International University in Tashkent.
Kimyo International University in Tashkent continues to implement educational programmes based on a credit-module system, developed in collaboration with specialists from advanced countries, including the Republic of Korea and European nations, while taking into account the latest achievements in education, science and technology.
Alongside providing students with a strong theoretical foundation, the university places particular emphasis on developing practical skills, fostering logical and creative thinking, and strengthening academic and practical links with the real sectors of the economy.
Furthermore, the university provides favourable conditions for acquiring up-to-date knowledge through joint and exchange study programmes based on the “2+2,” “3+1,” “2+1+1” and “2+2+1” models. Academic mobility programmes are also available in cooperation with our partner universities.
We continue to improve the university’s infrastructure and material and technical resources, while actively engaging leading international scholars, lecturers and industry practitioners in the educational process.
Dear friends, distinguished guests and valued students,
Once again, I warmly welcome you to the Samarkand Branch of Kimyo International University in Tashkent!
I wish you every success, new achievements and a rewarding academic journey!
